Saint-Joseph is one of Northern Rhône Valley's cru sub-regions, well known for it's world-class Syrahs. Côte du Pouly refers to the a specific renowned plot within Saint-Joseph most often tied to the Thomas Farge producer. We carry a fair amount of Syrahs in our inventory as it's one of our favorite varietals, but we select them based on us finding something special about them. This one absolutely fits that bill. It's pretty special.
Explosive blackberry and elderberry fruit on the nose, but there’s nothing exaggerated about this youthful Saint-Joseph. Seriously ripe with a wonderful coolness to the concentrated and focused palate. The fine-grained tannins are self-confidently dry and drive the breathtakingly stony and spicy finish along.
A great sense of purity and energy here - good intensity without heaviness. Graphite to the blackberry aromas, and a gentle, fine-sand tannic texture. It's light-bodied, but with such direction and finesse and a little saline nip on the finish. An exceptional, and highly typical Saint-Joseph. It expresses the weightless intensity and precision of some of the best Saint-Josephs. No overly intense tannic structure, it's not demonstrative or over extracted. A new cuvée marking the transition from Guy Farge to his son Thomas Farge. One of their best parcels of Saint-Joseph.
