Vinification

Grapes are hand harvested from the 60+ year old Gnadenfrei Vineyard and aged for 36 months in Dominique Laurent’s bespoke French oak barriques, famously known as “Magic Casks.”

Notes from critics

Our list of Torbreck labels continues to grow as we continue to discover and have access to their portfolio. This one might be the best we've had and that is saying something given how much we love their "The Factor" and "Runrig" offerings. The care and patience committed to producing this wine is clearly evident from nose to that long lush finish. This is a top 1% Syrah/Shiraz absolutely worthy of space in your cellar.

99

Blackberry, blueberry and some spice aromas here. Sandalwood and cedar. Full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate and show superb depth of concentration. Yet it’s agile and light-footed. Goes on for minutes. Tight still with illustrious depth and power. 30 months in French oak barrels. 50% new.

97

Intense and focused aromas of black licorice, lead pencil, blackberries, blueberries, blue slate, and purple flowers. Full-bodied and very powerful, but there’s a superb polish and sophistication to the wine with lots of new wood, but it’s also composed and focused. It’s dense, but not over done. Sophistication even with such old school concentration. Comes from vines planted in 1958. Something you won’t forget from this single parcel if you taste it.
