A full-bodied, complex, and elegant Champagne with a delightful brioche and fruit character.
Grapes are sourced from over 300 crus, with 85% being Grand and Premier crus. Approximately 30% of the blend ferments in a mix of neutral oak barrels (228-liter and 400-liter). Around 50% of the final blend consists of reserve wines, with 5-10% of the total blend coming from reserve magnums aged under cork for 5-15 years. The blend was aged on the lees for 30-36 months. Dosage = 8-9g/L
Surely James Bond would approve of this excellent offering from Bollinger. There was special care and laborious attention given to the production of this Champagne and it shows. Amazing!
Spectacularly complex ‘Poor Man's Krug’, a Catherine Wheel of spice and apple aromas and flavours; superb structure and imposing length. Surely the greatest value champagne of all. More than 300 parcels from more than 85% grand crus and premier crus, 15% of the base wine fermented in old barrels; 60/25/15% pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier.
If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for you. Bollinger Champagne has made a number of cameos in James Bond films over the year. This non-vintage Special Cuvée is an example of a classic Champagne done well. Notes of marzipan on the nose and the palate give toastiness and leesy notes, specifically sourdough. It’s classic for a reason and would only elevate any table it finds itself on.
