We tasted the full Capanna portfolio with their team in Montalcino a few years ago and absolutely loved their wines. This one is at the top of our list. The 2019 Capanna offers an intense, complex tapestry of dried cherry, tobacco, and subtle leather, framed by firm, aristocratic tannins. Rich, concentrated, and built for the cellar, this is a profound expression of Montalcino's finest, culminating in a magnificent, lingering finish.
Decidedly pronounced in its sensorial profile, it shows notes of black cherries, black plums, blackberries, dark chocolate, sage, bay leaves and catmint. Black tea leaves and white moss describe the secondary scene. Medium-full body, well-extracted, slightly stiff tannins and a solidly progressive finish. Wow, he's just asking for more time but he will kidnap us with his ways from 2029 onwards.
Glossy ripe red plums interweave delicately with floral, herbal and spicy tobacco notes. Gloriously concentrated and statuesque on the palate with a rippling texture, thriving tannins and an acidity perfectly in tune. In fine fettle.
