A profound high-altitude Malbec offering dense blue fruit, violet aromas, and a plush, mineral-laced finish.
Hand harvested grapes from a single vineyard are aged 15 months in French oak barrels (50% new / 50% 2nd use)
Crafted under the visionary guidance of Paul Hobbs from ungrafted, 90-plus-year-old vines in high-altitude Tupungato, Zingaretti is one of the most compelling single-vineyard Malbecs in Argentina. The stony, cobble-rich soils yield a dense core of blue fruit, dark cherry, and crushed violet blossoms, underscored by subtle oak spice and gravelly minerality. It combines Mendoza's signature generosity with cooler-climate poise and velvety, fine-grained structure that will reward patience.
The 2022 Malbec Zingaretti Estate Villa Bastias comes from a cold site near Tupungato, the vines growing at Zingaretti sit in cobble, stony soils and lighter clay and are more than 90 years old, own-rooted and drip-irrigated. Tight-grained tannins wrap around a full-bodied density of blue fruit and light oak spice. The area used to be known for growing cherries and there's a hint of its past here. The violet floral notes are lovely. Drink now through 2042.
The 2022 Malbec Zingaretti Estate opens with notes of olive, camphor, black fruit, menthol and candied blackberry. It’s medium-bodied, juicy and flavorful, with a plush finish. The gravel soils add a soft texture. Compared to previous vintages, the oak is more restrained, lending added elegance to its dark aromatic profile.
