An elegant Super Tuscan, offering red berries, floral notes, and spice, with a rich palate, refined tannins, and a long finish.
Aged for 20 months in used barriques
What an amazing Super Tuscan from this iconic producer. This is definitely a cellar worthy gem. There are so many amazing aromas and flavors from floral notes to ripe red fruits to vanilla and baking spices to tobacco. The tannins are silky and well integrated all the way through to that long brilliant finish.
The subtlety and perfumed nature of this wine is enchanting, offering flowers, orange peel and cherries. Wonderful ripe strawberries, too. Full-bodied, but not over the top, with tannins that are polished and run the length of the wine. It’s tight, but gives you every indication of a terrific wine. You want to drink it now, and you probably should do, because it’s so alluring. Yet it will age beautifully as well.
Deep garnet red, ruby reflections. The nose is a little drug, a perfume, super-complex, playful, a picture of aromas, spicy notes, dried herbs, strawberries, cherries, citrus aromas, cedarwood, blond tobacco, a hint of vanilla; you could sniff it for hours, a nose with outstanding complexity. On the palate, silky smooth yet with a bite, what finesse with good punch at the same time. The fruit appears ripe, lush, yet the wine seems to float almost weightlessly over the tongue. The tannins are of the highest quality, the acidity is perfectly integrated, and the alcohol, at a moderate 13.5%, is exactly where you want it for a wine of this kind. With a finish of magnificent length, this Sangiovese is definitely one of the best I've tasted of this variety. Pure precision. Great wines are always great, and this one is no exception: From now until 2040+
