An expressive Etna Rosso showcasing volcanic minerality, tart red berries, and earthy elegance from historic contrada vines.
Aged 14 months in a mix of French oak barriques, tonneaux, and large casks (10% new)
Tenuta delle Terre Nere helped ignite the modern renaissance of Mount Etna's wines, and Calderara Sottana is their crown jewel contrada. Covered in black volcanic basalt stones that retain heat, the vineyard yields a Nerello Mascalese of profound personality. Expect wild strawberries, dried herbs, and woodland mushroom woven with an unmistakable, smoky volcanic minerality and chiseled tannins. An exceptional tribute bottling.
A special bottling celebrating the winery's legacy in their most iconic Contrada. Calderara Sottana is famous for its large black stones (ellipticals) that retain heat. The 2022 is broad, powerful, and built for long-term aging.
This is a special bottling for the 20th anniversary of the estate. It has depth and intensity with a medium to full body, a creamy stone and basalt texture, red fruits and a mushroom and bark undertone. The linear, vivid finish goes on and on. Needs time to open. Be patient.
