The 2020 Denner Syrah features dark fruits, spices, smoke, and well-integrated tannins, promising great potential for the future.
We absolutely love this Denner Syrah. The 2013 might be our favorite, but this 2020 is no slouch. Dark fruits are complemented by spices, a bit of smoke, and a touch of herb, and the tannins are well integrated. If the 2013 offers a glimpse into what we should expect from this wine on its 10th birthday, its best days are ahead of it.
Based on 98% Syrah and 2% Roussanne, the 2020 Dirt Worshipper is brilliant and just about jumps out of the glass with its exotic blue and black fruits, spring flowers, game, bay leaf, and bacon fat-driven aromatics. It's beautiful on the palate as well and is medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, good freshness, and ripe yet building tannins. This classic, cool climate-inspired, incredibly complex Syrah will evolve for at least a decade.
The 2020 Dirt Worshipper is dark and brooding, blending black raspberry, smoky sage, and black peppercorns. This is silky-smooth and elegant, with spicy red fruits and inner florals that cascade across a stern acid and mineral core. The 2020 finishes remarkably fresh yet structured, begging for time in the cellar while a tart fruit concentration lingers. The future is bright.
