A Kirk Venge masterpiece of a Sonoma Chardonnay
Aged 14 months in French oak (40% new)
What isn't going on with this Sonoma Chardonnay?!!! A vibrant and sophisticated expression of the Petaluma Gap. Crafted by winemaker Kirk Venge, this beautiful Chardonnay bursts with tropical notes of pineapple and passionfruit, well balanced by a delicate kiss of French oak and bright, racy acidity. With its luxurious, silky texture and long, elegant finish, it is a truly harmonious white wine of depth and precision.
Sourced from Calesa Vineyard, a Petaluma Gap site perched on a high plateau with northwest-facing slopes and soils flecked with gravel and quartz. This is quite pretty - a flinty, mineral-driven wine interwoven with citris peel, and salinity, elegant cedarwood spice, and a cool acid crunch. Ripe yellow apple and pear join crushed Marcona almonds, a hint of vanilla, and good phenolic grip. Clone 76 - fragrant and laser focused. Just gorgeous.
