Savor the rich dark fruit and earthy notes of this benchmark Cahors, showcasing the Malbec grape.
Organically farmed grapes are aged 18 months in 57HL oak casks and 500L oak barrels
While 75% of the world's Malbec is now produced in Argentina, Cahors, a small wine region in southwest France, is the birthplace of Malbec, where it's often refered to as Côt or Auxerrois. This wine is somewhat of history lesson in the varietal. While you get that juiciness you should expect from a Malbec, there is an underlying earthiness and savoryness that really seems to separate it. This is a great representation of a Malbec produced from its birthplace. You can drink it now, but it will probably be really hitting its stride with a couple more years in bottle. Excellent!
Excellent depth here but it is also scented and elegant with cherries, forest berries, dried herbs, white pepper, graphite, violets and some stone. Juicy and medium- to full-bodied on the palate with dusty tannins. Velvety and harmonious with a bright core of blueberries and a lively, crunchy finish. From organically grown grapes.
The wine's welcome low alcohol belies its intensity and weight. It is a bold and fruity wine, sustained by dark tannins and rich black fruits. It has a long development and great future ahead of it. Drink from 2026. Organic.
