Vinification

Grapes are harvested at maturity from the Geisberg Grand Cru parcel from 50 year old vines, before being delicately pressed by pneumatic press, and vinified in a dry style in stainless steel vats before being bottled in Spring after harvest and cellared for 2 years before release

Notes from critics

This Alsace Riesling has quite a bit going on here. The residual sugar is well tempered by a good bit of acidity, together making this a bit sweet but with really great fruit and mineral throughout. This will be even better in another decade.

95

Picked with 16% potential alcohol, due to very small, millerandage grapes with super-healthy berries but no botrytis at all, the 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg is very intense and concentrated on the precise, fresh and perfectly ripe nose, where bright and lemony fruit and crushed limestone aromas are displayed. Rich, round and concentrated, this is a warm, lush, piquant and well-structured Riesling with a fine tannin grip. Bottled with 20 grams of residual sugar, the 2015 will benefit with each decade of bottle aging.

92

Lots of dried fruit and hot stones plus hints of concrete. Perfumed. Full body with licorice and aniseed flavors. Lightly sweet and very fruity. Atypical for Trimbach.
