A classic Carneros Chardonnay combining lemon curd and baking spice with remarkable flinty freshness and depth.
Aged Sur Lie for 20 months in French oak barrels (20% new)
Hyde Vineyard is legendary among California Chardonnay sites, and David Ramey’s masterful touch brings out its very finest qualities. Aged sur lie in French oak, this 2023 release is layered with lemon curd, poached pear, white blossoms, and subtle baking spice, balanced by an electric, flinty backbone. It achieves that holy grail of full-bodied Burgundian depth without ever feeling heavy, driving cleanly through a long, savory finish.
So well layered, delicious and vibrant, combining a rich texture with full, ripe fruit flavors and wonderful accents of lemon curd, flint and baking spices. A great wine from a great vineyard in an outstanding vintage. While generous and full-flavored, it also retains great balance, minerality and a slight sense of restraint in the vivid acidity. Fresh and compelling. Drinkable now and best from 2030.
A bright platinum/yellow hue, the 2023 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard has classically more depth, more phenolic structure, and more flesh, with fresh apricot fruit tones, great length, and broader depth. It offers full-bodied richness without heaviness.
