A Grand Cru Bordeaux known for its intense, ripe fruit flavors and firm, structured character.
Hand harvested grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed prior to fermentation (and MLF) in stainless steel. The grapes were aged separately for 12-16 months in French oak barrels (30% new) before blending, clarification, and bottling.
What happens when you blend an excellent vintage, exceptional terroir, and expert winemaking? An outstanding Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. And that's what we have here. Delicious ripe red and blue fruit, vanilla, baking spice. Great complexity, balance, and this should age well over the next decade plus.
This is intense and layered, with ripe dark berries, cedar, cooking spices and hints of licorice and wet stones. Full-bodied, broad and structured, with impressive depth and fruit concentration. Tannins are ripe and well integrated and run the whole length of the wine, leading to a structured, tightly wound finish. Long and persistent. Try from 2028.
A fragrant and delicate nose, which initially expresses floral notes of fresh rose, violet and cherry blossom, combined with a fresh and delicious fruity bouquet. It reveals notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, elderberry, red cherry and morello cherry, complemented by a subtle spicy (vanilla, nutmeg) and roasted (roasted hazelnut in the background) touch, as well as a hint of peppermint and bitter cocoa. On the palate, the wine expresses a round, delicious and ample attack and a firm mid-palate, carried by a fairly powerful and dry tannic structure, but with a fine texture. The flavors are ripe, with a hint of sweetness. We find notes of morello cherry, blackberry, black plum, blackcurrant, crème de cassis, redcurrant jam and crushed strawberry, accompanied by touches of vanilla, cinnamon, mint chocolate and rose. The density and richness on the palate are balanced by a good level of acidity. Beautiful persistence and concentration. A wine with substance and structure to be a wine for laying down.
