An exceptional Super Tuscan, crafted with meticulous care, and showcasing the brilliance of Merlot from Italy’s Chianti Classico region.
Single vineyard grapes are fermented in stainless steel, extended maceration, and aged 13-16 in French oak (50% new)
We visited this vineyard and fell in love with everything about it, but this wine most of all. When we procured the 2010 vintage, which made wine of the year at some point, it was the most we had spent on a bottle of wine to that point. We still have a bottle waiting for that special occasion, and now we have this beauty, which really lives up to the wine we fell in love with. Merlot is again one of our favorite grapes, and this representation is just plain special. Ripe black cherries, chocolate, complementary spice, and an amazing mouthfeel. So elegant and luxurious. This is still worth the splurge!
The 2020 L'Apparita will soon take its place among the great Apparitas. Unctuous and layered in the glass, the 2020 possesses exceptional balance and tons of character right out of the gate. Exotic scents of blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice and smoke are so alluring. Imposing tannins need time to soften, but once that happens readers will be treated to a spectacular Apparita that captures all the best the vintage had to offer. Marco Pallanti waited until mid-September (late for the year) to bring in this fruit. That decision paid off handsomely.
Dark, bright ruby red. Inviting nose, fresh blackberries, oak, light notes of honey, elegant notes of stone, beautiful and aromatic dried flower petals, a lovely savoury quality. On the palate, bright fruit, juicy, elegant, polished, wonderfully balanced, smooth, complex, with fantastic salty notes in the aftertaste.
