Hall's brilliant flagship Cabernet.
Aged 24 months in French oak barrels (70% new)
We love Hall's portfolio of Cabernets from Napa. We used to be members there before starting this venture and we're now proud to include this magnificent specimen in our store. This flagship wine offers an immense concentration of black fruit, licorice, and cocoa, framed by powerful yet seamless tannins and a multi-layered, profound finish. An opulent, age-worthy collector's masterpiece.
I loved the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall, a darker, rich, rock solid 2022 that has some upfront appeal yet still brings good density, depth, and structure. Blackcurrants, darker plums, iron, black olive, and truffly notes all shine in this pure, polished, elegant Cabernet, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, sweet yet present tannins, and a great finish. This benefits from air, so don't be afraid to give it a decant if drinking any time soon. It will ideally be given 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoyed over the following decade.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is made from 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it's very closed at this youthful stage, revealing slow-coming scents of crème de cassis, blueberry pie, and preserved plums, plus hints of candied violets, Indian spices, and tar. Full-bodied, concentrated, and impactful in the mouth, the voluptuous fruit is well supported by firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and decadent.
