An exquisite and vibrant white wine, this is a superb alternative to the usual Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.
Grapes from a single vineyard (Las Nubes) are cold-fermented and aged in French oak. There are no sulfites added here. Instead, the winemaker uses a proprietary terpene-based preservation method inspired by a 2020 scientific study
This is a very small production wine (only 47 cases) out of Portland, OR. We got to spend a little time with the husband and wife team and you could feel their love and passion for wine. And in this wine, you can smell and taste it. Ripe stone fruit, honey, ginger, great mouthfeel, bright acidity, and a long clean finish.
Lush aromas signal immediately that this is a winemaker who knows his stuff. Tangy lemon flavors are here in abundance, a mix of acid and flesh and rind. A slightly waxy impression leads into a pollen-soaked, textural palate. Mix ripe citrus with white peaches, pears, hints of bananas and a creamsicle finish and you’re starting to get a sense of this terrific wine. Cold ferment, aged in French oak and no sulfites added, this is one of the finest Viogniers in my experience
