An exquisite and vibrant white wine, this is a superb alternative to the usual Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.
Grapes from a single vineyard (Las Nubes) are cold-fermented and aged in French oak. There are no sulfites added here. Instead, the winemaker uses a proprietary terpene-based preservation method inspired by a 2020 scientific study
This is a very small production wine (only 47 cases produced) from a small producer out of Portland, Oregon. We got to spend a little time with the husband and wife team (winemaker Christian Chandler and his wife, co-owner, Kim Silva) and you could feel their love and passion for wine. And in this wine, you can taste it. Here's a rosé with a little more body than your typical lighter Grenache or Pinot Noir versions, but it's just as a refreshing on a warm summer day. Great nose is complemented by bright fruit flavors and a soft mouthfeel.
Lush aromas signal immediately that this is a winemaker who knows his stuff. Tangy lemon flavors are here in abundance, a mix of acid and flesh and rind. A slightly waxy impression leads into a pollen-soaked, textural palate. Mix ripe citrus with white peaches, pears, hints of bananas and a creamsicle finish and you’re starting to get a sense of this terrific wine. Cold ferment, aged in French oak and no sulfites added, this is one of the finest Viogniers in my experience
