Another stunning wine from Quinta Do Vale Meão with layered flavors where fruit shines without overpowering, highly rated by both critics and consumers.
Grapes are trodden by foot in granite lagares and then transferred to small-refrigerated stainless steel vinifying vats, pproximately 10% fermented with stems. Each grape variety and vineyard is vinified separately. The final blend is only made before bottling. All the wine was matured in French oak barriques (45% new)
It is crazy that we do not get as much exposure to these fantastic wines from Portugal as we should (outside of Port), and this one will have you pinging us for more. We sold out of the 2019 quickly because it is that good. It's dynamite! The 2021 is equally fantastic! There are so many layers of flavor with the fruit playing a prominent role, but not overpowering the other layers. This is one where the Vivino scores are well aligned with what the critics think. An absolute stunner.
The latest release of this top wine is as impressive as ever, a rich medley of flavors enhanced by 16 months in wood. The black fruits combine with structure to give a wine with a great future. Drink from 2028.
There's an effortless elegance to this focused red, with firm, fine-grained tannins seamlessly meshed with layers of ripe black cherry and mulberry fruit, dried violet and mint, and Earl Grey tea, plus a mineral-driven underpinning. Expands nicely on the palate before echoing on the lasting finish. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Alicante. Drink now through 2040.
