Discover the bold character of Uruguayan Tannat with this concentrated and expressive single-vineyard offering.
Aged 12-18 months in 25 and 50HL untoasted French oak casks
We discovered this gem at the 2024 Wine Spectator Grand Tour in Denver and had to add it to our inventory, but as it turns out the producer was in the midst of transitioning to a new US distributor. We called, they came, we tasted, and it was just as delicious this time as the first, though much more fun when you're sharing wines with the producer. If you want to know what a world-class Tannat is all about, look no further. Despite it being 100% Tannat, one of the world's most tannic wines, there is great balance with this production. It's big, but approachable and satisfying. This one really delivers!
A year of warm and lush wines in Uruguay has yielded tannat that seems to coat the palate with loving, widespread arms. It has a significant alcohol level, but it also a generous layer of tannins and the acidity of an Atlantic wine to balance it out. A generous and expansive red ready for lamb.
A rich, deep and intriguing nose, showing fresh blackberries, wet stones, graphite, iodine and blue flowers. A full-bodied tannat with dense but polished tannins. Tight, but caressing.
