Camartina is a remarkable Super Tuscan blend that showcases a perfect balance of power and fruit, highlighting the successful integration of French grapes in Italian winemaking.
Organically and biodynamically farmed. Hand harvested and destemmed, the Cabernet and Sangiovese are fermented and then aged separately in French oak for 1 year before the best lots are combined and aged for another year in French oak (30% new)
We had an opportunity to visit the Querciabella vineyard about 5 years ago and were blown away by their facilities, their vineyards, and their lineup of wines. This small production Super Tuscan, Camartina, was a standout and we've been drinking it ever since. It's just a great blend of power and fruit from start to finish and a fantastic representation of how well French grapes have been integrated in Italian wine making.
Bright ruby colour. Riveting nose with exquisite spicy notes, cinnamon blossom and clove, followed by cassis and damson. Full-bodied and vibrant, revealing many layers of vivid tannin followed by bags of juicy berries.
Ripe, sweet black currant, black cherry, iron, leather and tobacco flavors mingle in this tightly-wound red. Balanced, dense and remains focused and persistent on the lingering finish. Decant now, or age another year or two. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Best from 2023 through 2045. 683 cases made, 22 cases imported.
