A delicious and well-made example of Sicilian Nero d'Avola, offering a good balance of fruit, spice, and structure.
Aged 4 months in French oak barrels and then aged an additional 4 months in bottle before release
The key red grape of the Sicilian wine region well represented here at a great price. This is another easy drinking wine that pairs well with so many different foods. Enjoy!
From the southern hills, a few miles from the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, this Nero d’Avola is fairly structured. Focusing on blueberries and blackberries, it’s packed with a tar and chocolate complexity. There’s an important tannic structure, smoothed out by its vibrant acidity and reactive finish.
Spicy and hauntingly dark, the 2020 Nero d'Avola opens with a burst of blood orange, crushed blackberries, balsam herbs and violet florals. This is silky-smooth yet cool-toned in feel. Crisp wild berry fruits and zesty citrus tones add contrast. It leaves the palate reeling with youthful tension as a tart cherry and cranberry concentration mingles with sweet tannins. There is significantly more depth, concentration and balance here than expected.
