The 2020 Priorat vintage is a remarkable blend of Garnacha and select Bordeaux and Rhone grapes, showcasing a unique harmony of flavors that surpasses even the acclaimed 2019 vintage.
All certified organic and biodynamically farmed younger vine grapes from multiple vineyards that are fermented and aged in large oak vats, concrete tanks, French oak barrels, and clay amphora for 16-18 months
Despite the climatic and other challenges with which the winemakers in the Priorat region had to contend with for the 2020 vintage, the final product here is fantastic. The extra lengths the winemaker here went through to try to replicate the successes of previous vintages really delivered. We sold out of the 95-point 2019 gem pretty quickly, but actually think this one's even better. True to the blend associated with this label, this is a very unique blend of the local stalwart grape Garnacha with small amounts of grapes originally from Bordeaux and the Rhone Valleys of France. They all work to create this strange and unique harmony of flavors that just deliver brilliantly!
2020 was a challenging year that gave them a lot of work in the vineyard, but it it paid off. The 2020 Laurel feels very elegant, balanced and fresh, a little lighter perhaps, with perfectly ripe tannins, a little in line with 2016 or 2013.
