The prestigious Freemark Abbey has a storied history akin to many others in the Occasional Wine library that participated in the 1976 Judgment of Paris that helped put Napa Valley on the world wine stage. The 2017 offering does not disappoint. It's full of ripe fruits, dried herbs, a bit of eucalyptus, and a touch of spice. It's really a beautiful wine drinking experience.
Mint, spearmint, dark-berry and blueberry aromas. Leaves and sage, too. Full-bodied and firm with fantastic depth. Cool fruit with menthol and mint. Spice. Refreshing. Firm tannins. Fantastic 2017. Drink or hold.
This deeply colored Cabernet sees small additions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. It is soft and supple, with red fruit at its core. A mix of cherry and currant play well against the savory components and graceful structure.
