Occasional Wine Note: The good news for Occasional Wine is that the US importers for Clouet, The Alchemists Imports, are our neighbors and friends. This is one of our favorite everyday champagnes that’s also worthy of that special occasion. This one was really love at first sip with the 2011 offering. And really from someone who was more of a novice with sparkling wines, this was the wine that really opened up a curiosity that was not really there before.
The softness of the bubbles, the almond and brioche nose, the stone fruit flavors that fill your mouth. You mean you don’t need to pay hundreds to enjoy crazy delicious champagne?!!! No you do not. This is a woman-owned, sustainably farmed vineyard. The grapes are from the grand cru village of Bouzy, which is known as one of the best locations in Champagne for growing Pinot Noir, a specialty of Paul Clouet.
